Neighborhoods > Oak Hill

Since the 1800s, Oak Hill in Austin has grown from 100 residents to the more than 25,000 that now call it home, but the original sense of community and support still has a stronghold on the area. The Oak Hill Gazette is a hyperlocal news outlet that exclusively covers events, political updates and other positive facets that highlight the area (e.g. they feature a student athlete every week.).  The Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods is a respected entity in the community where volunteers from the more than 89 neighborhoods in Oak Hill (e.g. Scenic Brook, Covered Bridge) and the surrounding areas (e.g. Circle C, Estates of Shadowridge, and the Estates of Loma Vista) convene every second Wednesday. The association is particularly active in voicing concerns about the area's traffic congestion and possible solutions, including  ideas for the major intersection at Highway 71 and Highway 290 West, known locally as the "Y" in Oak Hill. Those who live in Oak Hill homes may have to fight traffic now and then, but they benefit from the nearby proximity of businesses, Seton Southwest Hospital, a local US Post Office, Austin Community College's Pinnacle Campus and a branch of the Austin Public Library.
