Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Austin

Oktoberfest traditionally runs from late September to late October in Germany, but it's just about to get into full swing in Austin! With potato cakes at Banger's, lawn games and pumpkin carving at Zip Lost Pines, and a traditional celebration with the German-Texan Heritage Society, there are endless ways to get into the spirit this month. Check out some of our favorite Oktoberfest events happening around the Austin area!

Banger's Sausage & Beer Garden - Banger's annual Oktoberfest returns on October 18th this year, and the celebrations run through the 20th. Enjoy 3 days of their special menu full of German favorites like potato cakes, weisswurst, and schnitzel, grab a traditional German beer, and experience diverse live music. Other activities include a sausage eating contest, opening and closing ceremonies, and games!

Bluebonnet Beer Company  - This Round Rock brewing company offers Oktoberfest fun for the whole family on its 4th annual celebration! For just $5, you'll get entry to the Oktoberfest grounds, which will host live music, vendors, and a free play area for children. Additional tickets must be purchased once inside the event to be redeemed for food, drinks, and merchandise. No additional purchase necessary to be eligible to enter contests and win prizes! Doors open at 11:30 am on October 7th.

Fredericksburg - Celebrate German heritage in downtown Fredericksburg from October 5 - 7 with food, live music, and fun for the whole family. Be sure to check out the schedule to see what times events are happening!

Dog House Drinkery & Dog Park - Want to celebrate with your furry best friend? On October 20th, the Central Texas SPCA will be hosting its 16th annual Barktoberfest! Start the day at Brushy Creek Lake Park doing a 5K Run to benefit the SPCA, and after the awards ceremony, head over to Dog House Drinkery & Dog Park for a dog walk, kids and canines costume contest, and more festival fun. Barktoberfest is free to attend, but a donation is always appreciated! See more on the official event page.

German-Texan Heritage Society - On October 13th from 11 am - 7:30 pm, experience a traditional Oktoberfest at the German Free School in Austin! Adults can enjoy live music and German food and beer, while children have fun painting pumpkins and playing in a bouncy house. Admission is $10 for those 13 and older, and children 12 and under get in free.

Rock Rose Domain Northside - Benefiting Austin Pets Alive!, the Samuel Adams Rocktoberfest on October 20th is sure to be an event to remember! From 3 - 11 pm, this free event will be hosting live music, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and delicious German food. The kids can enjoy getting their faces painted or the dunk tank, and be sure not to miss the Stein hoisting contest!

Zip Lost Pines - Head over to Cedar Creek to Zip Lost Pines on October 6th from 5 - 7 pm for their Zip & Sip Party! Enjoy local brews and light snacks, lawn games like Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, and Horseshoes, and participate in a pumpkin carving contest. If you also want to rider the zip line, there will be one lane open for $30 - grab your tickets early!
