Although school may be starting up again in August, there are still so many fun things to do before the school bell rings. The whole family can enjoy delicious ice cream at the Austin Ice Cream Festival or catch a movie poolside at Deep Eddy Movie Nights. The annual Hot Sauce Festival hosted by the Austin Chronicle is back again this August, with more than 350 spicy entries expected. If back-to-school shopping is on your list, the state's annual Tax-Free Weekend is scheduled for August 8th - 10th, where certain items including clothing, shoes and school supplies are sold without sales tax! Whether you're new to Austin or a long-time resident, it's worth a trip to the South Congress Avenue bridge for Bat Fest this August, where vendors, live music and Austinites gather to watch thousands of bats fly out from beneath the bridge at sunset.
