These days, it's not the just temp that's hot in Austin...the Austin real estate market is sizzling!
April 2013 Austin Market ReportAs the latest numbers from the Austin Board of Realtors roll in, the Austin real estate market proves its reputation as one of the fastest growing markets in the country. April 2013 saw more home sales than it has in nine years, and continues a 23-month streak of growing sales.
National Home Sales Rise: How Does Austin Measure Up?According to an article on CNNMoney, the national pace of home sales is up 10% compared to April 2012. This pace has been rising every month for the past two years in order to reach this figure, so it’s safe to assume the pace will continue to rise. This growth is attributed to decreasing unemployment rates, low mortgage rates and fewer foreclosures nationally. However, the national pace of home sales could be better if there were more homes available to meet rising national demand. Compare these numbers to the April 2013 Austin real estate market report, and you can see that Austin is well above the national average. Austin real estate is seeing a 32% increase in home sales compared to 10% nationally. With 10% more homes being listed since last year, Austin real estate is keeping up with the demand of homebuyers. Furthermore, Austin has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state, making it an attractive city to new residents. It’s a great time to be a homebuyer or seller in Austin!
