Site of new retail center just west of Bee Cave
Bee Cave is one of the hottest areas for growth in the Austin area, and investors are taking notice. Rockspring Capital, a Houston-based real estate investment firm, has recently revealed plans to develop a new retail center in the area. The property is situated along Highway 71 at Vail Divide, only two miles west of the Hill Country Galleria. The property measures about 23 acres in size and will be the westernmost retail center in the Bee Cave area. Although the acquisition was only very recently announced, potential retailers are already clamoring for a spot in the new development. Rockspring Capital expects the center will be filled with banks, restaurants, and other small businesses.
The new retail center will serve existing neighborhoods like Falconhead, Destiny Hills, Sweetwater and Rocky Creek, which are found on the outskirts of the Bee Cave city limits near Hamilton Pool Road. The retail center will also serve the estimated 6,400 to-be-built homes coming to the Bee Cave area. Two new neighborhoods are already in the works close to Bee Cave, including Bella Colinas and Masonwood West. In fact, the acreage of the new retail center is located right next to the developing Bella Colinas community. The existing communities in the area already house thousands of Bee Cave residents who currently have to travel to the Hill Country Galleria or shopping centers in the nearby Lakeway area.
Austin’s stellar economy and rapidly growing population were two other factors that influenced the decision to add a new retail center to Bee Cave. As central Austin grows, new and old residents look to the Bee Cave, Lake Travis and Lakeway areas for room to spread out. Residents are attracted to neighborhoods in this area for the excellent schools and community amenities like golf courses, pools, and parks. Investors have also seen the success of the Hill Country Galleria and the Shops at the Galleria, and are hoping to repeat that success with the new retail center. It won’t be long before local residents begin to see construction on the newest retail center in Bee Cave. To learn more about the Bee Cave area, check out our Bee Cave neighborhood profile.
