Since its conception in 2004, Mueller has evolved from an abandoned airport into a thriving community. Residents come to Mueller for its live-work-play atmosphere and central Austin location. In the next few months, 275 new homes will begin to take shape in the Mueller development along Berkman Drive. In the last ten years, over 1,000 homes and 1,200 apartments have been built in Mueller. The addition of these homes puts the total count of houses and apartments in Mueller to about 3,000. With such a high demand for homes in Mueller area, it’s safe to say these homes won’t stay on the market for long.
Six builders have been chosen to develop these new homes, including David Weekley, Centerra, Standard Pacific and Streetman Homes. These builders will offer a wide variety of home styles, from traditional 3-4 bedroom residences to quaint, garden style homes with balconies and terraces. Like much of the Mueller development, these homes will also feature eco-friendly building techniques and designs. Of the 275 homes to be built, 58 will be sold as part of the Mueller Affordable Homes program. This program helps low-income families afford homes in Mueller, where home prices are typically in the $400-$500K range.
Although Mueller has had constant growth since 2004, it is still only about 40% complete. There are many more developments planned for Mueller, including a new project on Aldrich Street that will transform the area in Mueller’s town center. Construction crews are also hard at work widening roadways, adding bike lanes and paving new parking areas to accommodate the growth in the area. Mueller is expected to be fully complete within the next ten years. Check out our Mueller neighborhood page to learn more about the area and view homes for sale in Mueller.
