The once quiet town of Lakeway, about 30 minutes northwest of Austin, is attracting big development. A new hospital, new neighborhood, area improvements and new shopping are giving people more reason than ever to call Lakeway home.
With next month’s opening of the Lakeway Regional Medical Center, residents look forward to having a hospital close to home. The center will offer emergency care as well as specialized services like cardiology and women’s health. The medical center is expected to create many new job opportunities; it will open with 250 employees, but could employ up to 1,000 people within the next few years.
The Lakeway Regional Medical Center is just the latest in a series of new developments in the area. Last December the Lakeway City Council unanimously approved the final plan for the first phase of 32 acres (68 home sites) of the total 456 acre Serene Hills community. The brand new neighborhood, located near the intersection of Highway 71 and Serene Hills Drive, will have 300 homes and 300+ apartments at completion. HEB owns property at Serene Hills Dr and Hwy 71 and is working on plans for a new store. If built, Serene Hills residents will enjoy convenient grocery shopping in addition to all the area has to offer - from the golf courses and the tennis complex in Lakeway to popular restaurants and shopping in the Bee Cave area.
Other improvements include a newly renovated Lakeway Activity Center, new walking trails along Lakeway Blvd, and a thriving new farmer’s market, which opened last October.
With all the new developments, more and more people are considering calling Lakeway home. Let us know if you are, too - we would be delighted to assist you!
