For most families, it can sometimes be a struggle to find a restaurant that kids and parents both enjoy. Luckily for Austin residents, finding a family-friendly restaurant is easy. To help you find a great restaurant for your family, we’ve put together a list of our favorite family-friendly eateries in Austin. Every restaurant on our list is an Austin original and has kid-friendly amenities like playgrounds. A few even offer kids nights or reduced prices on kid’s meals. Check out some of our favorite kid-friendly restaurants in Austin:
Central Market, 4001 N. Lamar Boulevard- At Central Market, kids and adults can enjoy the healthy selections from the store’s café. There’s always a new variety of unique dishes available. After lunch, kids can burn off some energy at the store’s huge playground or exploring the pond near the store. Kids may even catch a glimpse of turtles, ducks and other wildlife there.
Nutty Brown Café, 12225 Highway 290 West- Nutty Brown Café frequently holds Kids Night at least one Thursday a month. Kids can play on the moon bounce, get a piece of balloon art and enjoy a free kid-friendly live music performance. Kids can also explore the huge sand pit and playground. For even more family fun, Nutty Brown Café holds $5 Burger Wednesdays.
Freddie’s Place, 1703 South First Street- Freddie’s Place is a long-time Austin staple. Live music on weekends and delicious comfort food combine to make Freddie’s one Austin’s most popular eateries. Kids can enjoy the washer pits and playground shaded by huge live oaks. Pets are also welcome at Freddie’s!
Waterloo Ice House, 6203 North Capital of Texas Highway- While there are several locations all around Austin, the Loop 360 location of Waterloo Ice House is perfect for kids. Shady trees cover a sizeable playground. Parents can enjoy cool Austin evenings at the outdoor seating next to the playground. The down-home cooking means there are plenty of great options for kids, too.
Hat Creek Burger Co., 5902 Bee Caves Road- Burgers and kids are an unbeatable combination. You’ll find unique options like turkey burgers included on the kid’s menu at Hat Creek Burger Company. The Westlake location also has a large, shaded playground that kids will love.
Austin’s Pizza, 3638 Bee Cave Road- While pizza is typically a delivery food, the Westlake location of Austin’s Pizza makes it worth taking a trip out for pizza. The fenced playground means parents can feel at ease while their kids play. Families will also love the $1 pizza rolls on Tuesday nights as well as other superb deals.
Phil’s Ice House, 5620 Burnet Road- Phil’s Ice House combines everything that kids love all in one restaurant. Great comfort food and a huge playground put Phil’s at the top of the list for families looking for a great restaurant. Best of all, Phil’s is right next door to Amy’s Ice Cream!
