Austin Jobless Rate Less than 5%

As Austinites headed to shops and malls to take care of their gift finding and present buying, retailers predicted and saw a healthy flow of customers this season. In fact, retailers were so confident in the spending habits of Austinites, that between October and November, Austin retailers added 4,200 jobs. This job growth is a great indicator of consumer confidence in the economy. Retailers will hire seasonal employees so long as they anticipate a rise in the number of buyers. And seeing as the Austin area added more than 4,000 jobs this holiday season, it seems that Austinites are confident in their jobs and the economy.
