Winter has traditionally been the slow season for real estate. Yet according to the latest data from the Austin Board of Realtors, the Austin real estate market continues to defy real estate norms and expectations. According to the latest data from ABOR, home sales for the month of October 2012 showed the largest year-over-year percentage gain since November 2009 Here are the figures: Austin Home Sales for October 2012 Homes sold in October 2011: 1,427 Homes sold in October 2012: 1,960 (a 533 home increase) Median home price in October 2012: $199,320 (up 5% from October 2011) Total dollar volume of sales: approximately $543.5 million (up 51% from October 2011) Average number of days homes spend on market in October 2011: 83 Average number of days homes spend on market in October 2011: 68 Active listings were down by about 1/5 compared to October 2011 while pending sales were up by 19%.
