Austin Areas Named Best Places to Live

Although there are several areas in Austin that are great places to call home, two clearly stand out from the crowd. According to a recent survey published by, Westlake and Rollingwood were named among the best places to live in Texas. Rollingwood took the number one spot, with Westlake close behind at number four. Rollingwood was also recognized as the number five best place to live in the nation. Thousands of cities across the country were surveyed and ranked by criteria such as school quality, commute times, health and fitness, local amenities, crime rates, and strength of the real estate market.

Westlake and Rollingwood are located right next to each other in the hills west of Mopac. The top-rated school district, beautiful homes, and proximity to Downtown Austin make them two of the most desirable areas in the Austin area. Children in Westlake and Rollingwood attend Eanes ISD, which is consistently named one of the best-performing districts in the state for both academics and athletics. Both neighborhoods are also surrounded by fun things to do. Residents can cool off at Barton Springs or take a boat out on Lake Austin. You'll also find plenty of parks, golf courses, and shopping centers close by. Homes in Westlake and Rollingwood are a mix of brand new and established residences in both traditional and modern styles. Upgrades like pools, home offices, and media rooms are not uncommon features in the homes here.

It's not hard to see why Westlake and Rollingwood take the top spots for the best areas in the state and country.
